How can this app help to improve health and well-being?

Balance uses mood + activity + sleep to determine total well-being. Personalized Balance scores can be reviewed daily, weekly, and monthly to identify patterns over time. Patterns help you and your child understand what things help and hurt overall wellness.

Will my child be able to use this app?

Yes! Finding Balance uses pictures and emojis to engage and encourage interaction within the app. Throughout the day, gentle reminders are sent using our notification to encourage use. We designed the app to empower youth and are confident that once they get started using Balance, they will love and use it often. The easy to navigate features use images familiar to kids and teens, swipe and click technology, and a scoring system to make understanding health and well-being fun.

What is the Balance score?

The Balance score is an indicator of overall well-being. The score is calculated using an age-appropriate combination of sleep, mood, and activity to generate a score between 0 to 100. There is no ‘ideal’ Balance score. Generally, higher scores reflect an even distribution of healthy behaviors and positive feelings and lower scores indicate a rough day.

Balance is led by CEO, Erin Carr-Jordan, Ph.D., and COO, Annissa Furr, Ph.D. Dr. Carr-Jordan is a noted expert in child and adolescent development with more than 15 years of experience. Dr. Furr has 10+ years’ experience as the Research Director of Kids Play Safe, is a subject matter expert on public and children’s health, and a science professor.
